With more than 200 paintings, 500 drawings and 700 letters, the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam manages the worlds largest collection of works of art by Vincent van Gogh. The museum opened its doors on Museumplein in 1973 and is one of the most popular museums in the world.

See Van Gogh himself

View Vincent van Gogh's masterpieces in the museum and immerse yourself in his artistic development. The museum invites you to imagine himself in his life and discover the ideas and ambitions behind his art. The permanent collection includes some of Van Gogh's best-known works, such as The Potato Eaters (1885), Almond Blossom (1890), Sunflowers (1889) and Wheatfield with Crows (1890).

In addition to Van Gogh's well-known post-impressionist works, the museum also offers the opportunity to compare his art with other 19th-century artists. The collection includes works by his friends, contemporaries and artists who inspired Van Gogh or were influenced by him.

The museum regularly hosts special temporary exhibitions about Van Gogh and his peers, including David Hockney, Etel Adnan and Edvard Munch. You can also participate in guided tours, and there are often various workshops on the activities agenda.
